Fears and Phobias

Many people suffer from fears and phobias.  According to the national institute of Mental Health the percentage of people with anxiety disorders is increasing and in recent years.

Fears and phobias often develop during childhood and become more aggravated and intense during adulthood, however they can develop in adulthood. For example if a child is locked in a dark cupboard later in life claustrophobia or fear of the dark may develop as a phobia as a result.

There are generally 4 types of fears and phobias

1 Natural enviroment phobias - fear of heights, storms, water darkness, confined spaces etc

2 Animal phobiasn - fear of snakes, spiders, cockroaches, horses, bugs dogs etc

3 Medical phobias - fear of blood , Drs, hospitals injections etc

4 Situational phobias - fear of flying, driving, tunnels, social situations and public speaking

Regardless of the nature of the phobia they are all formed in the same way in the mind and with hypnosis they may all be released in a a similar way. The most common sign of a fear or phobia is a feeling of fright or anxiety when the individual is exposed to the situation which triggers the fear. Symptoms may include nausea, accelerated heart beat, dizziness, shortness of breath, numbness or tingling sensations, trembling, loss of control, choking or fear of fainting.

Hypnotherapy is a great tool to rid ones life of fear and phobias by reprogramming the mind’s reaction to the trigger. Also regression back to when the fear was created is another way to treat the sufferer as this allows us to let go at a subconscious level which in turn eradicates the fear or phobia on a conscious level.
